First Birthday Portraits
With or Without Cake
Your baby’s first birthday is about so much more than cake. These relaxed studio sessions capture their expressions, movement and growing personality with simple styling that keeps the attention on them.
We’ll create a variety of individual portraits, along with photographs with parents and siblings. If you would like to include a cake, you’re welcome to bring a small one for a few cake-smash photographs at the end of the session. Cake is completely optional and is not supplied by the studio.

Your first birthday portrait session includes simple studio styling, photographs of your baby and immediate family, and 10 edited digital images

The complete gallery brings your total session investment to $700 + HST.
1. When should we schedule the session?
Sessions can take place before or after your baby’s birthday. If you would like the finished photographs in time for their birthday celebration, schedule the session at least four to six weeks beforehand. Whenever possible, we’ll choose a time that works well with your baby’s nap schedule.
2. Do we need to bring a cake?
No. Cake is completely optional. These are first birthday portrait sessions, so we’ll create a beautiful variety of photographs whether or not you include one. If you would like a few cake-smash images, you’re welcome to bring a small, simply decorated cake. Cakes are not supplied by the studio.
3. Can parents and siblings be photographed?
Absolutely. Parents and siblings are welcome and included in the session. We’ll photograph your baby individually and create a few relaxed family portraits too.
4. What should our baby wear?
Simple clothing photographs beautifully and keeps the attention on your baby. Neutral tones, soft colours and subtle textures work especially well with the studio’s sets. Once your session is booked, I’ll help you choose clothing that coordinates with the selected setup. There is a small selection of clothes for babies at the studio but depends on size.
5. What if our baby is shy, serious or doesn’t cooperate?
Your baby doesn’t need to perform for the camera. Some babies smile immediately, while others need time to explore and become comfortable. With more than 15 years of experience photographing babies, I’ll follow their pace and capture the expressions and personality that make them who they are.
