Shidan messaged me when the ground was still slightly frozen and said she wanted maternity pictures. I suggested the beach because I knew it would be lovely. She was travelling with her family from Woodstock and making the 3-4 hour journey. I was so flattered that someone would travel so far for family and maternity pictures and I wanted to make sure that her session would be worth the travel.

They arrived in August, with their small daughter Esme (I love love love the name Esme!) who was as sweet and pretty  as her named sounds! The weather was cooperating and New River Beach was showing off how beautiful this little gem in our province could be! It was a nice warm evening and the fog held off.

We started with some beautiful family pictures on the grassy areas and Esme showed how amazing she would be as a big sister. She listened so very well and was so easy to work with. We then moved on to some adventurous (aka wet) maternity pictures. Wading a little ways into the ocean and allowing the rolling waves to wash up over her feet…which sounds lovely but truthfully I am quite a distance away and  yelling over the sound of the waves directing and getting very dirty and wet always seems to produce the best pictures!

The maternity gown is part of the studio wardrobe which we offer to our clients to borrow for their sessions, we also carry a selection of little girl dresses and outfits for boys too!

I have known Jenna for a few years and was thrilled when she contacted me to capture her maternity session! Jenna is someone who is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the out and I knew this session was going to be stunning. She did not disappoint my expectations! We laughed and giggled throughout the shoot and really had a good time capturing her pregnancy! I love having the opportunity to work with new moms before their newborn arrives!

I have known Jenna for a few years and was thrilled when she contacted me to capture her maternity session! My sister and her husband were home from Fredericton on Mother’s Day and we did her maternity session indoors because it was raining. I love to shoot outdoors and I had the perfect spot picked out but sometimes being a photographer is about being flexible.

Normally, my mother would give us an evil glare and lecture (worth avoiding) if we dared to touch or move some of the furniture or decorations in her home but my mom is one of my greatest supporters and gave me free reign to utilize any room in her house as I wish. I removed wall hangings, pillows, curtains and furniture to give the spot I was photographing in less items that would compete for attention.  I want the focus on my subjects and not on the little decorations in the room (I commonly do this with all my clients when shooting in their homes.

Even though the day was gloomy, grey and dark I still was able to find some pretty light for Samantha’s session. She and Patrick are eagerly awaiting their first child, a little boy that they are planning to call Joseph. Samantha also reminded me that for the first time I will be an aunt! I love documenting special moments like these in my family’s and client’s lives.

We would book and the weather would be raining, and then snowing and a few other obstacles thrown into play. We finally figured out a time and the weather finally cooperated and  I was so excited to do this session!

Sylvia and Brett are a lovely couple expecting their first little one and she had put so much planning and thought into her session in regards to wardrobe! It showed and paid off! She had a lovely selection of clothes to pick from. Maternity photography is incredibly lovely, there is something so exciting about these sessions.

The temperature outside was rather nippy and we had to go inside to get warmed up but the end results were lovely.
