I was pretty excited to do this session! Only a few weeks before I did his Mama’s maternity session which was stunning. So I was was waiting for this little man to arrive because I had a feeling his session would be just as special and it was!
Minutes before the session was due to start, I had the brilliant (insert the tone of sarcasm) idea to take the handles off the basket so that it would look a bit different from previous sessions. Well…it worked, the handles bent down and out of site but the wood chips and wood dust that came from that little modification created a MASSIVE mess in my little studio! I was sweeping in a hurry to tidy up and after my session I kept finding bits of the basket everywhere! The studio got a nice deep cleaning after that session because of my smart idea.
Little Cruz (doesn’t he have the most awesome name?) decided that he would be a sweet smiling baby boy for the entire session! They travelled an hour to the studio, from St George, NB and we captured some of the sweetest little smiles! I think he likes the camera. This was a wonderful session and thank you Jenna for bringing Cruz to my studio for his newborn session!

Dear Beautiful Mother’s,
I want to say thank you.
You reach out when your little one has yet to arrive. You are so excited and we plan the session. I am excited too and I watch my calendar as your due dates arrive (and sometimes pass by). I love the emails I get from excited Dad’s, grandmas, aunts, friends and even some of you Mamas! You let me know the little has arrived and I wait for your discharge so we can schedule the session.
You arrive and you are SO tired. You have worked hard to dress up, look pretty and feel ‘normal’. You worry that the baby won’t sleep. You worry because getting ready in the morning was so much harder than you anticipated. You worry because sometimes I am a stranger and you are trusting me with this precious little creature. You worry that the exhaustion will show on your face. You are still recovering from childbirth and nothing fits like it did before. You worry you will do something wrong and you will be judged.
Do you know what I see? I see the glow that wasn’t there before, even if this isn’t your first child. I see tired eyes that have this softness that only new love can produce. I see strong beautiful women who have conquered something incredible, no matter what their birth experience was like. I see a perfect little being, not marred by the world, and loved intensely. I see the beginning of your family and life story.
I also have great empathy for you. I know the exhaustion, the frustration, the exhilaration and all those intense feelings (and hormones) that a new baby brings to you.
I love chatting with you, dear mothers, because I want you to know you are not alone. That you are doing a great job. That the recovery will get better, that nursing and feedings will become second nature. That being overwhelmed and so lost in their eyes is completely normal. I want you to know that if you need more help, that is normal too.
I want to thank you for coming to me during this raw and vulnerable time in your life. You honour me with your trust.
I wish you all Happy Mother’s Day.

This handsome baby boy has had his session booked for many, many months! I know his lovely Mama from Sunday school when we were just little girls and I was so pleased she booked with me! The session was really a lot of fun because his parents are both in the ‘industry’ as they are the owners of Hughes Productions (if you are looking for a wedding videographer I highly recommend them!). So we had a lot of fun talking shop about gear and such.
Meanwhile Mr Declan decided that this was his show and graved us with several sweet little smiles.
Thank you Kevin and Danielle, it was truly enjoyable to work with your family!

In the spring, I called my sister to tell her I was pregnant and she didn’t respond for a couple of seconds and then squealed, ‘So am I!’. We had fun comparing notes of our pregnancies and she found out that her little one was going to be a baby girl (whereas I didn’t want to know the gender of my baby). Allison was born 2 months after my Rosalie and Samantha drove from Fredericton to my studio in Saint John. We had the new little cousins ‘meet’ and we began a session that involved plenty of laughs and delivery stories while both babies were equally cuddled by their aunts!
Little Allison is the spitting image of her older brother Joseph but unlike her brother she decided that she would sleep soundly for her session and rock every pose and setup. My sister’s one request the the moon prop and within only a few minutes we had that accomplished and moved on to create some earthy and dreamy photographs! After ever click of the camera I would hear over my shoulder, ‘Oh love her so much!’ and I couldn’t have agreed more!
I love that I am able to give this gift of newborn photography to my family! The best part? Being my family I can kiss these babies all I want.

Elizabeth contacted me many months before her due date and I gave her the same warning as I did everyone else, I was due with my own baby only by a few weeks and there would be no guarantee that I could do the session. I suggested she get a back up but Elizabeth still kept in touch and as she went overdue and I realized my time was nearing I was less certain that it would happen.
When Miss Annie arrived I was still pregnant and so happy that Annie’s session would be a reality! I had the lovely Erica Mitchell assist me and Annie was as fresh as she could be! Only three days old and she was at the studio! The youngest baby I have ever professionally worked with and she was SOOOOO sweet.
A few days after her session my own little one arrived, at Elizabeth and Shawn’s ordering session, Annie had her first play date with Rosalie.
Thank you guys for being so flexible:) I am so glad we were able to coordinate the timing and able to capture this amazing beginning of your family!

Mom of five. It feels surreal some days to look at these little people who I call mine. Right now life is busy, the laundry pile is immense, free time is non existent and I am tired and a little overwhelmed. I am back to shooting, booking and editing amidst the craziness.
And I wouldn’t change a thing for the world.
