They didn’t worry about looking at the camera. They headed off every bit of crankiness with running, throwing in the air and cuddles. No one worried about getting their clothes dirty and there was quite a bit of giggling. Family photo sessions shouldn’t be stressful…let’s let kids be kids! Let them run, give them the snuggles they want and crave. Instead let’s capture the connection, the love, the chaos and your now.
This session was a joy to capture! We wandered through fields, danced and twirled.

Family pictures…does this send a shiver down your spine like it does mine? As a professional I am fairly confident I can get everyone to look at the camera, I can might even be able to coax a smile from the most stubborn toddlers and I can promise I can create something that will thrill grandmas!
Why do *I* dread it? We I have five children…the older two are no trouble. At 11 and 13 they are pretty easy-going, they know enough to not move for the camera, smile and ignore the craziness coming from their youngest sisters. My 8 year old? Well she likes to please, and she will smile so big and so fake it makes me grimace and she will stress about posing ‘just perfect’ and we usually deal with some tears and dramatics. My younger girls are 4 and 3 and WILD…completely crazy, never sit still for 20 seconds. Both are ASD (autistic) and have sensory issues that make sitting for any period of time frustrating for them. I do have bi-annual ‘perfect’ pictures of my brood, and each one was stressful and adored (the art in our home is our children!).
Rosalie was turning 3 and I wanted pictures of her being HER. She is PURE joy! She giggles and laughs and runs and her little smile is worth earning, her comprehension is increasing daily but she doesn’t understand the commands or instructions I give her all of the time.
The evening was warm, the light was GORGEOUS and it was bath time, which should have signalled the Mom and me to start rounding them up to begin the bedtime routine. Instead, I decide quickly on a whim to BREAK ALL OF THE RULES. I quickly yelled for Kathleen to help me find something for the girls to wear (it is summer and they are living in their bathing suits, even if we don’t get wet), I didn’t worry about hair, I made sure the clothes at least didn’t clash, popped them in carseats and headed to my favourite field in St George.
We coated ourselves literally with bug spray and then we PLAYED! We ran and they giggled and they ran some more, then plopped on the blanket. I posed a bit, for the most part I let them be THEM. It was the craziest fastest, wildest session and I broke all of the photography ‘rules’ I typically follow. The goal wasn’t to see 3 smiling perfectly posed little girls but to see the real smiles…the crazy hair, the expression when they are with each other, the LOVE. We were not well prepared and under 10 minutes they were DONE and it was all I needed.
This session gives me all the feels! My heart burst a little when I finally had a chance to edit. I will do my annual fall session with all 5 of my kids and for once I am NOT dreading it, I am throwing the perfection out the window (will still be pulling it out for their annual gift to grandparents!). I love that I captured my Rosalie with her sisters being wild, free and three!

On July 29th, I did not plan on shooting a wedding in St Andrews NB. However, I had the opportunity to head back to Kingsbrae Gardens and Hillside to meet the sweetest family and friends of Sangeetha and Noel! They had a beautiful wedding planned, with all of their loved ones at Kingsbrae Gardens but their wedding photographer from India was unable to make it, last minute. Sangeetha reached out to several photographers, only a few of weeks before the big day and found so many to be booked. The New Brunswick photographer community is quite small and extremely supportive and immediately began reaching out, through their networks, to every photographer. Who was free this day? Who could help this couple out? Sangeetha said they were surprised at how other photographers rallied and were able to give her a list the choose from!
She reached out and called from her home in Ontario and I knew this was going to be a perfect match! She is sweet, down to earth and so laid back! The Tuesday before the wedding we did their engagement session and Saturday arrived before we knew it!
Both had incredible people standing up with the in their weddings parties! The Groomsmen were fun, polite and looking forward to seeing their friend be married to the love of his life. Sangeetha’s sweet bridesmaids kept smiling at her with joy and were so happy she had met someone who made her so happy!
The details that Sangeetha put into her day were lovely! From the beaded shawl for Mass, to the seashell tiara she felt suited the St Andrews by the Sea and the gorgeous veil that she and Noel created themselves!
Thank you Sangeetha and Noel for reaching out and I am so happy I was able to be a part of this amazing day for the both of you and meeting your amazing family and friends!! I am so glad I was able to capture an additional wedding in St Andrews!

Laura and Chris celebrated their marriage at Kingsbrae Gardens, in St Andrews by the Sea. The evening before the storm clouds rolled in and the thunder and lightning cracked but come morning the sun was shining and promising a perfect July day! 2017 has brought so many rainy Saturdays, I was feeling so thankful that we would have no worry of fog or rain for the entire day!
Before the ceremony the couple had a quiet and private First Look. They were able to see each other privately and have a moment alone together. We then began to go shoot pictures, of just the bride and groom, throughout the garden, before we met up with the wedding party. With ample time this allowed us to go to different locations, like the Block House an Centennial Park.
One thing I love about weddings is getting to know my couples and also meeting both of their amazing families! I loved seeing what an amazing Aunt and Uncle this couple truly is to their small nieces and nephews! Laura expressed how happy she was that everyone was able to be there for this day.
My favourite moment for this wedding was during the speeches. Guests had been roaring with laughter over the hilarious stories! During Chris’s speech he paid tribute to one of his groomsmen, who he admired and called a true hero. The moment was touching and heartfelt. The day was planned to have a relaxed pace with ample time for for guests to enjoy the amazing meal prepared by Chef Alex Haun.
The evening was complete with the guests joining together on the dance floor to dance the night away!
This wedding I had Genevieve Flynn Photography second shooting with me, she is a wedding photographer from Norton.
Thank you Laura and Chris for asking me to be your wedding photographer! I enjoyed getting to know you both and it was an amazing day!

Driving through the rain, Josh and I were staying hopeful that the weather would shift and gift the bride and groom with an outdoor wedding. We stopped first at , Hillside in St Andrews, where the girls were preparing for Hannah’s wedding. This was like walking into a room full of old friends! Majority of the bridesmaids (and bride!) were part of Emily and Kyle’s St Andrews wedding last year and Hannah’s family are amazing people. They instantly make you feel welcome when you enter a room. her parents were both so excited for their oldest daughter’s wedding, and their joy carried on throughout the day. Their family of five was growing by two, BJ and his daughter Devyn. Not only were they gaining a new son but a sweet little granddaughter.
Hannah could not wait for me to see Hillside! One of St Andrews Historic homes that was nestled between Katy’s Cove and the Algonquin (where the boys were getting ready!). This house had everything a photographer and bridal party could ever want; big huge windows, white walls and interesting furniture. The best feature was not the balcony but the gorgeous porch! I did not fear the rain because I knew we could always use that front porch for gorgeous pictures! The rain did lift, the spirits were high and we had a blast photographing the girls and guys!
Arriving at Ticklebelly Hill for the ceremony and reception, guests were amazed by the decorating efforts of Hannah and Natasha’s Weddings and Events. Details through the barn from roses and greenery, to a smores bar, antique tea cups for coffee and tea and gorgeous place settings. Every corner had the perfect touches and no detail was missed.
The ceremony was over within minutes and before the bride and groom could let it sink in, the speeches began. Roars of laughter filled the barn as every member of the wedding party had past transgressions, fashion disasters and rap hobbies dragged out and paraded for all the guests to howl over. The MC’s reminded the guests that they had here, a bride and groom who felt that their day was bigger then the nation’s 150th celebration. Looking around the overpacked barn at Ticklebelly Hill In Oak Bay, NB you could only agree. Family and friends came from all over, to see this amazing couple be married and to party the night away with good food, stories and dancing.

My last June 2017 wedding was being held at Lily Lake Pavilion, which is located at the head of Rockwood Park in Saint John. I had Lisa Garnett from Lisa Dawn Weddings join me as a second shooter. Lisa is an amazing photographer from Hampton and she and I have worked together several times and I was excited she was able to second shoot this wedding! Sarah-Lynn and Jared are an amazing couple who are always smiling and laughing. They are the parents of the sweetest little girls and celebrated their wedding with all of their loved ones at Lily Lake.
Rain threatened all day and a heavy fog settled on the city but we were not overly worried! Sarah-Lyn and Jared had Spurs decorate the pavilion and the venue was absolutely stunning! The room was completely transformed with black, white and damask, with small touches of purple. Their ceremony was filled with laughter, tears and more laughter. Jared gallantly passed his bride his handkerchief when she began to tear up.
The rain held off long enough for the new couple to have pictures outside on the dock and boardwalk (and locked gates didn’t stop this couple, they hopped the fence to access the dock). I told Lisa that this couple is amazing, having done their engagement pictures previously) and to watch Jared. We would set up a pose and then he would look down at her with such love that Lisa exclaimed out loud, “Oh my goodness!! How he LOOKS at her!”
Their dinner was nothing short of amazing, Jared is the chef at Lily Lake and everything was perfection! The speeches had everyone in stitches laughing with stories of how they first met.
Thank you Sarah-Lynn and Jared for having myself and Lisa photograph your amazing family and your special day.
