I am not sure who’s idea it was but the end result was some maternity modelling magic. Genevieve Flynn Photography, Valley Photography and I put out a model call for a few new Mom’s to be. We wanted to stretch our skills a little bit, play with light, posing and push our own artistic boundaries. With regular session I always shoot what I know, my clients come to me for guaranteed results and their sessions are not the time to play with light and risk a fail. With three photographers sharing our knowledge with each other and trying things we had never done before there were a few failed setups that didn’t look good and it was okay! Some of my favourite setups to date happened during this session! And now I am excited for anyone who decides to book a studio maternity!
I placed the announcement on Facebook that we were looking for models and over 10, 000 people opened up the ad! I was a bit shocked and excited that so many people were spreading the word and curious to what we were cooking up! Patience Cole Makeup Artistry did hair and makeup and four amazing women signed up for the experience!
Genevieve, Brittany and I went through all of the candidates (there were so many amazing women!) and chose four, had a day where we sat down and made lists of setups, clothing, props and lighting we wanted to try. With so many people in my small studio and so many ideas flowing, we wanted to be as organized and as time efficient as we possibly could be.
Many hours of shooting later, very hot and tired, we were excited with what we accomplished! Katelyn, Monique, Casey and Janelle were so amazing to work with! Their girls looked flawless thanks to Patience, they were good sports about trying weird poses and letting us decide every pose and all the wardrobe. Thank you girls for the fun!!

Danielle had been to my studio for her maternity pictures and now we were just waiting for her little guy to arrive. FInally after a few days overdue she messaged to say that Scotty has arrived!
The day of her session she came in with his big sister and was so calm, despite being the mother of a new baby and toddler. Scotty was ready for his pictures and super sleepy. We were able to get amazing pictures of him. And his big sister was a rock star! She was so excited to have her pictures taken and wanted to please us so much!
Her little outfit was from Mia Joy Couture and fit her perfectly!

One of my favorite families was expecting a little one over the holiday season, the studio was ready for any holiday babies with cute little hats and outfits. I was pretty excited about the hand knitted elf outfit that had yet to be used.
This little guy was born on Christmas Day and when they arrived we were pretty excited! He looked similar to his big brother and he was so content and sweet. Keeping with the neutrals and adding a bit of the Christmas props for a timeless look.
The Christmas elf outfit was incredibly cute and he was so sweet! His big brother was very proud of his new buddy!

Newborn photography is creating art for your home with the most perfect and sweet subjects! Finding new ways to be creative is one of the best parts of my job and I love using fresh flowers for a few sessions. Florals are always sweet with girls. When her parents booked with me they were quite open to anything in regards to setups and colours.
Typically I love neutral colours, creams and browns and greys but this session I went outside the box and used soft lavender, a floral vintage quilt and beautiful real flowers. The end result was a feminine set up with the sweetest little girl! She was so beautiful and perfect!

Two months for baby pictures is quite different from a newborn session. Still small and new but they are so aware of what is going on! When you move a two month old they will stare because they know you are not their loved one, they are not as flexible when fresh from the womb and they are very, very curious!
Two months is amazing for personality! Big smiles and smirks, belly laughs and giggles.
